Thailand GAA to host the South Asian Games 2016

Thailand GAA Club hosted the AGGs for the first time at Bangkok Pattana International School back in 2009. And although it was dampened by “a little rain” (a torrential downpour in the middle of the rainy season), it was a huge success. We have since hosted the SAGs on two occasions, back in 2012 at the Polo Grounds in Pattaya and more recently at Harrow International School, Bangkok in 2015.

The 2015 games were a roaring success and all who attended had a great time. Once again, there was a little delay for rain, but it didn’t change the mood one bit. If anything, it gave the players a little time to relax and get some rest. Thailand GAA took full advantage of the home games with our ThaiGals winning the Ladies Cup and our ThaiGents taking home the Intermediate plate. Orang Eire took home the men’s cup with Singapore winning the Ladies Plate. Close to 250 players attend the games last year, with plenty more out supporting.

Due to the success of the games last year and combined with the fact that Bangkok is a popular travel destination, we have been asked to host the SAG games for a third time. We will be returning to Bangkok Pattana International School which is located on Sukhumvit Soi 105. 2016 will be bigger and better than ever, with more clubs being involved than ever before. We will also be hosting some Camogie games, the first time this has been played at the SAGs.

More information will be posted on our Facebook page as the games draw closer.

We look forward to seeing you all at the games.
